"The Business of Being Born"

Every woman who is planning on having a baby should watch this documentary! (Even if she's already had children). I'm very passionate about this topic, and if anyone would like to discuss anything with me, please let me know! Thanks! :)

Well, i too am very passionate about this topic, but not for of the same reasons. I have had 5 babies, a few with pitocin, a few with out. I've had complications, i've had perfect deliveries. I've tried for natural, but her being backwards, and 9 lbs 10 oz proved too much for me. I have never been talked into anything. I've had midwives and OB's and none of them have done anything but what i have asked for.
That being said, i believe in informed decisions. I am all about natural homebirths, if that is what you want. I am against terminating pregnancy, and would not choose that, but that is a decision for you and your maker. Not for me, or for me to judge you for. I am for seat belts, but i don't think it's the governments job to force you to use them, or put you kids in a carseat. I think that should be a decision that you make because it's a good thing to do.
I don't spank my kids, but i think if that's the form of disapline you choose to use, that is up to you. I also don't believe in prenatal testing. Even after having a baby with Downs. I think you should let things happen they way they should, and accept the process. I am a believer in making your own informed choices. Baby making and how when and where you have them is a personal sacred experience for couples to experince together, how ever they make choose.
If i had my way EVERYONE would breast feed, and if for some reason they were unable to, they would have a wet nurse to do that for them. In a perfect world right?

I've always been well-informed of the medical decisions that affect me.My doctor is very good to listen and do what you want. I agree that hospitals are out for money...being the "non-profit" business they are (whatever). They really don't need to charge what they do.But I also know that I don't contract on my own and pitocin is very beneficial for me. I've had both of my live births natural and prefer it that way. But it is the choice of the woman. Just be sure you've read up on the facts.
